MG Midget and Sprite Technical - 1275 clutch slave pushrod length

I've just replaced the pushrod in my clutch slave and noticed that the old one had an extra quarter inch or so welded on the end. The new rod is therefore that much shorter. Why would there have been this extra bit added on and do I need to worry that my pushrod won't be long enough(!!*?!).

As i mentioned in a previous post the clutch slave actuating bits wear very often,thereby causing problems with disengagement etc.
The most frequent bodge is to extend the rod, however if made too long the effect is to over throw the lever release arm and bend it as well - making the situation even worse.

If you have any wear i suggest replacing the rod, clevis pins and the renewable bearing in the release arm, together with its special bolt.

This is a problem on both midgets and B's.

Assume your replacement is now correct standard length.

I have renewed all the worn bits as you suggest. So hopefully everything will be ok.

You're not using a 7.5" clutch are you? if so then that pushrod needs to be lengthened.
