MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Carburettor air filter enclosures.
I'm in the process of re-painting the two carburettor air filter enclosures on my Jan. 68 built GAN4 midget. The enclosures appear to have remnants of Coopers air filter labels on them. My question is, would there have been labels on the air filter enclosures when the car left the factory or is it likely they have been put on by a previous owner? Regards.

Labels were applied bij the factory.

I think they were water-slide transfers rather than stick'on " labels". Dave

Looking again at the remnants of the existing Cooper labels on the filter enclosures, they appear to be in gold/yellow lettering. I have been looking for matching replacements but I can only find labels for sale in blue lettering. Does anyone know if labels are still available in gold/yellow? Regards.

MGOC do gold ones in a set: https://www.mgocspares.co.uk/product/a255/decal-set-midget-61-66?nodePath=1/3/340/741/742/1964 or individually https://www.mgocspares.co.uk/product/bml2002/transfer-cooper-filter?nodePath=1/3/340/741/742/1964

Added my transfers last year. Think they look nice and always thought they were original from the factory. When I bought my Midget it had quite thin pancake filters on there. So when I restored it I bought new pancakes knowing I would try to buy the original filters at some point. The performance difference between the, yes cheap, thin pancakes and the original ones I now have was huge! So much better, seems like I gained a few horsepower. ![]()
