MG Midget and Sprite Technical - For David D the speedo light
| David, this is what I use to illuminate the Bike compooter! The LED is resisted using parts and values Will recommended many moons ago when we were discussing fitting LEDs into instruments instead of the dull bulbs that nature intended. I just bought a bunch at Maplins and built them into the screw ends of my bulbs, resistor and LED together inside a package insulated with shrink wrap. This is a spare one which I didnt get around to fitting into a screw base and when I fitted the speedo I used it wired off the panel light circuit, and fixed into the Rover SD1 pump pick-up pipe. This is then glued (super-ly) on top of the cover to shine and give the LCD a non backlit light source. The speedo is visible through the spokes of the steering wheel whenever I am feeling insecure about cameras and passers by! ![]() |

| And this is the lamp in its package of shrink wrap sorry it is a crap picture but you can make out the slim dimensions of it, no thicker really than the insulation on the supply wire. ![]() |
