MG Midget and Sprite Technical - needle 1500

Just got some second hand carbs with K&N filter. I think they are fitted with richer needles they have AAS on them and are the ones with springs,?Also do i need to fit the jets with them or can keep my old standard ones.

Thanks Paul 1500 midget

Paul,

AAS I beleive are richer than a standard needle.

The needle setup will depend on the entire setup of the car, i.e. tubular manifold, gas flow head etc. If you have a standard setup but are putting HS4 with K&N's the needle recommend by Moss is fine for road use. You will need to check that the piston spring is the upgraded one to deal with the increased air flow, again moss will be able to help you with this, I think you want the red spring.

Alternatively, Southern Carbs are very helpful.

Standard size jets should be fine, however I would recommend fixed jets to avoid the tuning problems the wax stats.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Jim,
I do have peco but with standard manifold, I think i will use piston springs from new carbs to go with the richer needles.
