MG Midget and Sprite Technical - NMC Power required for steering lock on '72 GT6?
My niece and nephew to be are digging my brothers '72 GT6 out of a stable. They have all the wheels turning, but steering at odd angle and steering lock in place. Positioned too close to another vehicle to open the bonnet to put in a battery. Keys to be located! Does the steering lock require power, or is it just mechanical, thus only needing the key inserted and "turned" ? My thinking just mechanical, but need to advise from a distance (remotely).

No power required.

As I thought, thanks :)

They might have to jiggle the steering wheel about a bit if the key doesnt want to turn and release the lock pin. Obvious enough to any of us here but possibly less apparent to a younger generation.

IDK, I sometimes have to jiggle the steering wheel on my Skoda before I can release the steering lock.
