MG Midget and Sprite Technical - which bearings ??

I want to change my 71 midget front wheel bearings. There has been a lot of threads recently on the poor quality of bearings. There has also been some talk of fitting taper roller bearings. The present bearings are R&M but nothing comes up on the web so they must be out of business, can anyone help as to a quality manufacturer of suitable bearings or experiemce of fitting taper roller instead.
