MG MGA - 4:1 Crown Wheel and Pinions
Having just bought a 4:1 set on ebay, the vendor is offering more at $125, he's in the USA. If anyone is interested, drop me a mail for his details. It's a good compromise for dropping rpm at speed but not losing the acceleration that happens when using a 3.9:1 set.

Dominic I have 4.3:1 and a Sierra 5-speed box. Would this be an ok modification? Steve

Depends on whether you want to lower the revs a bit or not. and on whether you can lose a little acceleration. The racing guys use this ratio as a best compromise.

Sorry Ratio should be 5.125: 1 or 8/41. The real racers set!

I have the 3.9 with the five speed. It also has the 18v engine. Works great as a freeway flyer and even in the mountain ranges. It may not have as much power to climb in the mountains but still good.
