MG MGA - Air filter elements
Does anyone know where I can get replacement elements for Stellings & Hellings Style chrome air cleaners. Moss sells the whole unit but does not sell the replacement element.
Jim
I bought mine at the K&N store online. I measured my stock filter, found the closest size that K&N makes and ordered. No more need to buy replacement filters. http://shop.knfilters.com/KNShop/Department.aspx?cat=Universal+Air+Filters

If Steven can do it, so can I. http://www.amsoil.com/StoreFront/eaau.aspx An alternative. SF Dwight

So Steve, what part number did you come up with and how much did they cost you, including shipping? In the past, I bought K&N filters for my 'B and found, via K&Ns website, people who will sell for a discount. I ended buying from www.ajusa.com . I just checked, and for the E-2400 filters, at the moment, it's $8 cheaper at AJ.

Derek, I have the stock Vokes air filter canisters on my A. I went with the K&N Part: E-3200 Price: $26.89. http://shop.knfilters.com/KNShop/Product.aspx?pid=E-3200 This filter is a bit smaller in diameter than the stock "window screen" filter (maybe 1/2" overall). But with the filter behind the black air cleaner mesh, it's hard to tell. I had to modify the front filter per Barney Gaylord's instructions: http://mgaguru.com/mgtech/carbs/cb201.htm So that it would work with the crank breater. I'm happy with the K&Ns. Originally I bought the K&N filter kit from Moss. But the filters they supplied were too large in diameter.

Thanks, Steve. AJ-USA has these listed at $24.07 ea plus free shipping. So a saving of nearly $6.

I found the E-3212 from K&N was the closest to the original. Kris

Thanks Kris the E-3212's arived and installed great no cutting with exption to the vent on front carb. used Barney's installation for that.

I have used the ROVER 2.6 air filter. These are paper like the MGB. You need 2 of them. Put inside the mesh & cut to size with a sharp fine tooth hacksaw then use some silicon to seal onto the outer cover. Have also used these on the TF where you just cut in half. Garth.

Does the K and N air filter get replaced at cetain intervals or rinsed in petrol and oiled? Al

Al Follow the K&N directions available at http://www.knfilters.com/clningins.htm HTH Larry

Larry, thanks, that helps. I jut have some old originals and thought when the car is up and running I'd switch to the K and N since there has been much mention of them. Al
