MG MGA - MGA Starter Motor
| I am fitting MGB engine into MGA which means I am using the MGA backplate on the engine. Does anyone know if a high torque starter motor is made for the MGA which will fit ? The MGB high-torque starter motor is unsuited. |

| RW There is a Japanese hi-torque motor that fits. Barry Gannon in Ozz has fitted one. See here in the archives: http://www2.mgcars.org.uk/cgi-bin/gen5?runprog=mgbbs&access=&mode=archiveth&subject=6&subjectar=6&thread=2007112123415715473 The rest of us seem to start our 1800s ok with the standard MGA Starter. | Yep, standard MGA starter works fine. Unless you're REALLY got a hankerin' for a high torque starter I wouldn't waste the money. |

| The standard starter wil be absolutely fine if it is in god condition. |

| My hi-torque works well and is readily available here from a member of the Melbourne club who imports and modifies them to fit MGA and MGB. I had difficulty finding a genuine replacement here in Aus. so this solved the problem. Barry |
