MG MGA - MX5 (Miata) gearbox upgrade query.

Getting ready to install a Vitesse MX5 gearbox conversion in my roadster. I understand it is a little tight fit in the transmission tunnel. Am planning on expanding the tunnel with a porto- power jack, does anyone have the location of the tight spots that I can target?

Just as a matter of interest - why have you decided on the MX5 gearbox and not the Ford 5 speed one ?

Hi Aleks,
Three of my fellow club members here in Melbourne have installed the MX5 conversions and all are very happy with the end result. I test drove one of these MGAs through the Dandenong Ranges (twisty mountain roads) and in heavy suburban traffic and it was a delight to use. Also I have a fondness for Japanese engineering and like the fact they are new modern gearboxes not restored gearboxes. Also like the concentric slave cylinder arrangement.
