MG MGA - Order of operations, body assembly
The newly painted body came home last night. It sits on the chassis with a couple bolts only. Cork was in place on chassis. I will now begin the assembly process and was wondering if there are important ordered steps to follow in this process. I installed the new wire harness, new gas line, new brake lines, suspension, springs, exhaust system, etc. prior to the body work. Your advice at this stage is welcome. Thanks, Harley

Hi Harley. Be sure to install the wiper motor and associated linkages before installing the master cylinder. It is near impossible afterward. Cheers! Glenn

Hi again Harley. It is best to complete the wiring of components on the firewall, before installing the heater unit. It is much more difficult installing the voltage regulator, turn signal flasher, and fusebox after the heater unit is installed. Cheers! Glenn

Install the new piping between the fenders and tub. Double check your panel and door alignment. Get the engine in if it's out, get it all wired and checked. Start it. Get all the electrical stuff-- Lights, wipers, instruments, connected and checked. Once all the electrics, hydraulics and mechanicals are installed and working, start installing the chrome--the bumpers, grill etc. Leave the air ducting out until the oval vent grills and stuff are installed. Install the windshield. Do the interior next to last. Finish it up with the top.

Thanks for the advice. I will begin to connect things. Rebuilt engine and trans. are already in place. Harley
